Home is an exhibition by Lewisham-based artist Tom Hemming. He explains, “Home is a body of work set within the confines of my living room. Combining paintings and drawings, the exhibition attempts to give an autobiographical account of the room, through fragments and human traces. Working from video footage, figures of my family appear in motion, inhabiting the space seemingly unobserved. Some objects recur or align between multiple works, hinting at the physical layout of the room but the focus jumps, the scale shifts, objects and figures move and repeat. Painting my living room and family is both very personal to me yet also universal in its focus on the day-to-day, the banal and intimate moments of family life.”
